AFRICAN RICE HEART.

swimming bugs.

when tay, fletch and i were kids, we used to rescue big moths out of our above ground pool.   we'd get the big strainer, pull them out and set them on the metal edge where they'd pant like dogs--or like bugs who'd been swimming hard.  we never stuck around to see them fly off or live on, but i suspected the best for each of them--suspected that they'd both dry and catch their breath.   and while the sight of all the panting and stillness always lead me to believe that really fierce flight had been lost on them, they were never there when i got back, and it always made me hope.
