AFRICAN RICE HEART.

on occasion and sometimes frequently.

On occasion and sometimes frequently, the things we believe we need sleep cold and still inside us:

direction,
clarity,
certainty.

But when they slumber,
a lumber in our bones burns
like the pillar of fire
the tired ones followed
when the hollow night
was what it was--
black.

"Trust God from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track."
Proverbs 3:5-6 The Message

  1. Sometimes I wish I could shake awake those things. But you're right, we just gotta trust. Love you, Em! It was good talking today.

  2. I agree with tina. Its our natural instinct to try to fix it all on our own. Its hard to follow something you can see or really hear. Its just trusting in the unknown. tough.

  3. Those are sweet pictures. Is it easier to sense the burning lumber when it's dark? Because have mercy, I'm not hearing anything snoring inside me! :) I like your words.
